Alone...
What a bruiser of a week. I was supposed to take both Monday and Friday off, and managed to go to work both days. August 15th is quickly approaching and I'm going to end up losing vacation days. Oh well, it's not like I don't get enough time off or anything.
The redhead and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary yesterday. We had steak and shrimp scampi for dinner last night, which was really good.
Earlier in the day I got some help from my pal Tod with my lab work for my class. I don't know that I'd be able to get through this whole grad school thing without his help and guidance, for which I'm very thankful. We also had Bamba for probably the last time on campus. I still can't believe that they are moving off campus.
I'm also sort of surprised I'm not in total gastrointestinal distress as I had Bamba Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I was even toying with going up today and having one last burrito before they close tomorrow.
Tod and I will need to figure out where our weekly lunch meeting will be now. I'll see if the redhead will let me switch it from Friday to Tuesday maybe and we can do gyros at Zorba's. Or maybe we'll do Monday (or stay on Friday) and do Za's. Anyway. Not sure why I'm rambling on about where I eat lunch...
So Thursday night we drove up to Lansing and bought a new (used) car--a 2008 Honda Civic. I've been so sick of paying out the nose for gas and only getting 17 or 18 mpg. The Civic we got should get low- to mid-30s--almost twice where we're at now. And the car payment is about half. So I think we did the right thing. And it is nice--it has aluminum wheels and a sunroof and it's black. And it has a jack to plug in an iPod. As I said on Facebook, "good riddance, General Motors."
Today the redhead went down to Mattoon for a get together with some lady friends from work. She's probably going to stay the night. Em is also staying the night at a friend's house. Alex left a couple of hours ago for his girlfriend's house. Which leaves me alone this afternoon and this evening. I was hoping I could get someone to come watch baseball and drink beer with me, but I guess I'm stuck with just me and the dog. The Sox are getting killed, so I guess it is just as well.
